Hello, runners!
This is a video to show you a preview of the San Juan Island Half course.
As you can see, this course gets right down to business, showering you in scenery.
Boom! It's the ocean.
And why look! It's the Olympic Mountains off to the right.
Views for days.
And this is just in the first few miles!
Time to head back!
About the first 3 miles consists of an out and back along Cattle Point.
So you get these amazing views...twice!
Fun fact: Much of those first few miles (and the start line) is actually on National Parks property!
Into the forest!
Nice and shady.
Aid stations are spaced every 2-3 miles and are staffed by volunteers from local non-profits!
As you can see, the course is pretty flat in this section.
Straightaway!
Here we go to False Bay!
'Tis like a green tunnel of trees.
WARNING: Awesome views ahead.
Pastoral, bucolic views.
Here's False Bay! It's called False Bay because it LOOKS like a bay, but at low tide it completely drains. No good for boats :-(
Beautiful, green fields.
Final stretch!
Good news: Some nice downhill sections are coming.
Here's the looong downhill!
I can almost taste that finish line...
Final turn!
You're finished!!! (with this video :-)
