Next Prof. Dr. Kruse please. Thank you very much Ladies and Gentlemen for giving me the opportunity to contribute to the topic. My name is Peter Kruse. I have worked 15 years pretty far away from any practical reality. I was active on the edge between experimental psychology and neuro psychology and have dealt with the human brain. In a sense one could say an early love with intelligent networks. The findings we could use afterwards in the context of management and consulting. I have tried to pull my thoughts on "How does the internet influence society?" into 10 theses. Condensing these into three minutes is not possible. So I have asked myself, "What is the essential thought behind it?" Because I come from a systems thinking perspective I'd like to announce a general thesis. Because I believe that the internet will change society seriously. I would even choose the term "revolution" for that. What we experience is that there is a fundamental power shift from provider to customer. I believe, that something is happening real life in all areas of society. Which is strongly connected with the structure of the system. Looking back in time, what we have done in the past is that we went on increasing massively the world wide network density. There was no such an explosion before. Then the Web 2.0 emerged; additionally to the fact that we had increased the network density, we kicked off massive spontaneous activity in the system. As a result there are more and more people, who are active in a highly interconnected network system. And the third thing that joined in actually came via functionalities such as Twitter's "Retweet", for instance, Rotary excitation in a network, so to speak. And once said three things, such as high network density, highly spontaneous activity and rotary excitation, work together, I will be able to tell you what's going on: these systems have a tendency to build up by themselves. That means in fact, that you will witness these systems becoming powerful and, without any chance of prediction where exactly it is happening. And the people have discovered that for themselves. People's initial motivation in a network was information. They just wanted to gain access to information. Then, sometime, they realized: "Well, it's kind of exciting to present myself or ourselves in a network." Then they were anxious to leave their footprints. And what people are currently realizing is that you can even assume power via those networks. People are gathering to movements. And should you still try to predict the outcome of this situation, I can clearly tell you: this is going to be impossible with these networks. Surely we can take a look onto our crystal ball, but ... consider these to be non-linear systems. And non-linear systems are of an unpredictable kind. As there's the butterfly effect which is in-between. So we have to think about problems like: how could we predict anything at all there? And then I would reply: well, it's a question of empathy, and of the perception of what may generate substantial feedback in the systems. Once you're reasonably close to market events, that is, close to the people in some degree, you won't be able to predict what's going to happen. But you do have an perception for the feedback patterns in society. And at this point I feel that we do need to change strategies. We have to get aware of the fact that power is about to redefine itself. Because, power is with the consumer and not with the provider; hence we are going to get an extremely strong customer, an extremely strong assistant and an extremely strong citizen. Thus, if we can't build up sufficient empathy at this point, to find out about where exactly this kind of build-up is happening, we are going to get massive problems in the upcoming years. And once it would come to the point to ponder changes in strategy? Well, then I'm quite prepared to relax and lean back, because these systems are about to develop dynamics powerful enough to demonstrate that we utterly cannot afford to reject a strategic change. So in this respect, you can say: "And should you not be willing, so I will have to be patient." Thank you.
