TZM is Not Doing Enough

"The function of the Zeitgeist Movement" "Seeks to communicate a Train of Thought with regard to how understanding and applying Scientific Reasoning can improve human society with respect to public health and societal sustainability." "It seeks to generate an educated critical mass globally for the acceptance and implementation of this Train of Thought and hence the self-evident notions for social design that emerge from that logic." This is done through many programs and events, such as.Zeitgeist Day, The Zeitgeist Media Festival, monthly Chapter Town-Halls, Newsletters, Press Releases, Lectures, Radio Shows, Social Networking targeted Think Tank projects and other mediums" The audio of this video was taken from: "TZM Global Radio on July 3rd. hosted by Jason Lord" ...this is where the Movement comes in, this is where the Train of Thought comes in, this is where the Chapters comes in what we are focus on it and why. And what our motivations are based on the understanding that everything is connected, our problems, our system outcome there, led to behaviors that are building in to the way we structure our socio-economic system. Time to addres this stuff. So when people come at me, or if I read ... you know, we are not credible, we are not doing enough is like, what else do you think we should be doing? We are doing the most fundamental important thing which is seeing the connectedness of the entire system. A system's aproach, system's theory. Seeing how we are interconected species over the system sorround us both psyhcolocical and enviromental. The cultural value system of the day does not regard a root causes systemic view of the social problems and the Zeitgeist Movement acknowlodges this. And this is a fundamental difference between most causes fighting single focus forms of patch working protests that go on in the world and what the Zeitgeist Movement is trying to get people to understand. So that is a fundamental difference right there. And now, some people can keep it separate, you know I mean I can go volunteer and feed the homeless and the people that are hungry and not confuse that with a global economic structure where everybody needs are met. I can actually understand both at the same time doing what I can to reduce suffering in my local area to some personal effort that I find makes some difference in the world and I can also go out and advocate the Zeitgeist Movement at the same time and not colapse the two down into one at the same which is something I see happen quite often. So geting this train of thoght into the frame of reference of society which is a massive undertaken, and is where critical mass awarness comes in I mean every movement, cause, every petition everything needs some sort of mass awareness. I often think about that and go like: why not go all the way then? If you gonna go for critical mass awarness for hunger why not go for the whole system that producing poverty? Without the frame of reference out in the public which is an educational imperative of ours you going to see very little changes, people try to react and protest things that don't work in the current system. So if you gonna go out there and do critical mass awarness for a single symptom of the system why not go all the way and go out there and advocate that the problem is systemic and thet the system is producing this outcomes and get down to the root cause of the problems that we are trying to all address? Why we shouldn't do that? Would be the question I ask somebody. That's not to say that doing something to alleviate sufering or triyng to provide for people needs isn't innecesary, is not to say that at all. It's about having that distinction between providing for people's needs, inmediate needs on a local level and the meeting of everybody's needs on a global level. And my last point on this critic that comes up when I read language that the movement isn't doing enough for or that we are not doing the right thing or that we should be doing something else, you know... As a person involved with the chapters this is a common critisism for somebody that has an agenda that wish to take the group in a different direction. And is in this context, where we use terms such a side projects or patchwork efforts. Not as a negative conotation but actually have an understanding of the diference between what the Chapters are doing and what this projects are. And not to say what's right or wrong but to actually understand the difference. And what it means to volunteer and what happening when somebody comes in and want to take the group resources for their own NPO or take a volunteer resources for their own agenda. There's sort of like, whether it's intentionally or not there's a market psychology at play. When this things happen. Somebody feels entitled that the chapter is a resource for their own project. And there's actually disrespectful of why the voluteers are over there what they shown forward they agreed to and the actions that they are to undertake. There's a market psychology at work. Which can goes against the personal values that are involve when you volunteer or when somebody contribute to a group with out the need of self gain. And so now we have a network of chapters across the globe. Focused on the ground awareness activism wherever you are, on this train of thought, to get into this frame of reference of the social landscape I see bits and pieces of this train of thought, all over the place but I can see people not making the connections between the problems of economics and socioeconomic system. Or the problems of envirmental issues and the socioeconomic system as a system problem, rather than just some sort of behavior anomaly. We have a bad person, or a bad company or just an inmoral people and we need to either, you know, find them or locked them up or something like that. I know here locally with the chapter I participate in my region with the LA chapter we have quite of few folks that want to do something in their community in adition to the awarnes activism and we are really doing our best to accommodate that trough people who may want to do a transitional projects. They may have a community garden or wanna have a book library, you now share educational resources and things like that cause some of the materials we which to share or the educational material that we offered to, now are availabe to local library so if you need to get a copy of the book, and then share that with the chapter membership. We have a way of incorporating this things into the group without losing side of the fact of if you wanna grow food and have a garden that the chapter is not about the garden and when the focus and time and all the energy it takes to make a calendar events and you get the skills together from the group, and everithing you takes becomes all about the side projects itself then you've lost side of the train of thought and reducing down into a single symptom. As far as people who identify with the movement and associate with it, there are multiple ways to associate with the Zeitgeist Movement. You can be a casual supporter. You can be what we call an advocate, your own advocate as many people who do. You can call yourself a member of the Zeitgeist Movement. In my case and my association with the Movement is a suporter an advocate, a member and a coordinator. I also coordinate activism and created a place to people to stay in communication. All the coordinators in California to have a communication platform. So we can organize a larger events like the Global ZDays or Town-halls or the Media Festivals. All this takes coordination and all this takes time and resources. The calendar of events to keep this organize. It takes a lot of volunteer effort and skills. That becomes vital to the health and success in the longevity of any group and specially on this case in the Zeitgeist Movement chapters. I applaud those of you who are out there who are coordinating being able to navigate this waters and not pollut the train of thought and having confuse or defuse into a single symptom.
