Norway!
Hello, and welcome to Norway!
In Norway we speak Norwegian;
a language from the East Scandinavian Group
of the Germanic Branch
of the Indo-European Language Family.
Norwegian originated from the Old Norse language
in Scandinavia and diffused through the vikings
in Ireland, Europe, Iceland, Greenland, Russia, and Newfoundland.
In Norway, we love to tell folklore
involving elves and witches that live in our many forests.
For example, the Nisse is an elf
that guards animals and plays tricks on children.
Syria!
Hello, and welcome to Syria!
In Syria we speak Arabic;
a language from the Semitic Branch
of the Afro-Asiatic Language Family.
Arabic originated from
the Arabian Peninsula
and diffused through the Arab conquests
of the 7th century out of
the Arabian Peninsula
and into the Middle East
and Northern Africa.
We have a very strong
connection between mother and son.
A husband used to be able to
divorce his wife
just by saying it three times,
but recently has been
changed to a court process.
