This tutorial will show you how to place a request for an item found in the UW-Madison Library Catalog.
UW-Madison's students, faculty, and staff may request items be retrieved from a campus library
and delivered to the campus library of their choice for pick-up.
Once you have identified the item you would like to request in the library catalog, click the "sign in to place request" button
Select University of Wisconsin-Madison from the list, then click the select button.
From here you may see two different buttons in the top right corner of the screen. "Place Request" or "Recall from Current Borrower"
If the item is available for immediate check out the button will read "Place Request".
If the item needs to be recalled from the person who currently has it checked out the button will read "Recall from Current Borrower".
Select either the "Place Request" or "Recall from Current Borrower" button to continue requesting the item.
Next select the desired pick-up location from the list. Click the blue "Place Request" or "Recall" button to complete your request.
If the item was marked available in the library catalog your item will be delivered in 2-3 business days.
If the item needs to be recalled it may take up to 14 business days for the item to be delivered.
You will receive an email notification when the item is available for pick up.
Remember, sign in to the library catalog using your NetID to place a request. Your request may take 2-14 business days depending on the availability of the item. Also, not all items can be requested, but a librarian can help.
