Beyond Today: The Easter Charade

0 (0 Likes / 0 Dislikes)
Every spring on a particular Sunday morning, an interesting event takes place in towns and villages and countrysides around the world. People are up early, before sunrise, heading out to an unusual occasion for our modern world. They're out watching and waiting for the sun to rise in the eastern sky as part of a religious service. Later on this same morning, many others will arise, dress in fine new clothes and head off to church. For many this will be one of only two or three times in a year they attend a formal church service. This is Easter. One of the biggest holidays of the year. But why have all these different activities? Why would anyone get up before dawn to watch the sun rise on this day? What do colored eggs, rabbits and chocolate have to do with a religious holiday? What if you found that all you had known about Easter and all the traditional celebrations that surround it were a charade, filled with falsehoods? Our world has many religious traditions and customs that we take for granted and never raise a critical examination. But what real sense do the activities of this day called Easter really make after all? In answer to this question, many will reply that Sunday was the day on which Christ rose from the dead and that His resurrection is the central reason for observing the Easter holiday. But is it? When was Christ crucified? Was he resurrected on a Sunday or on Good Friday? Don't be too quick to answer these questions. You need to look at your Bible and see what it really says about these topics. It's not easy to admit that you've been taken in by a false tradition when it comes to the Easter celebration. You may think that you've been worshipping Christ through this holiday. You haven't. You've been taken in by a clever counterfeit, a charade that hides the truth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and your only hope for salvation. Your one hope for eternal life is in knowing this Christ who says those who worship Me will do so in spirit and in truth. You can learn how Christ taught His disciples to remember His death and resurrection. The correct way is taught in the pages of your Bible. Why not check out and discover the real truth about the real Jesus? For Beyond Today, I'm Darris McNeely.
