Explore how to configure VideoTMS to automatically process videos added into your Brightcove account, and have VideoTMS automatically deliver your subtitle files to it as soon as they’re ready.
01
Manage your API Authentication credentials in Brightcove
You should be an account administrator. Click on the “Admin” link in the Brightcove’s studio main menu, and select the API Authentication link.
The API Authentication page will open displaying your current client registrations.
02
Register a new application
Click on “Register New Application” and enter the name and description for the client organization (e.g. “Dotsub”).
03
Configure the API authentication
Select one or more accounts for the authorization, and enable the necessary API permissions for this registration. The following options must be selected:
- CMS Playlist read/write
- CMS Video Read/Write
- Dynamic Ingest Create
- Dynamic ingest push files
- Ingestion Profiles (all)
04
Obtain your Client ID and Secret
05
Edit your VideoTMS™ Project’s settings
Log into your VideoTMS™ account, select “Projects” from the main menu, and click the “Edit” icon, to edit your project’s configuration.
06
Add a new OVP setting
On the project setup view, click “OVP” on the left-hand menu, select Brightcove OAuth from the drop down selection, and click the “+” button.
07
Fill in the requested information
- Account ID: Your Brightcove Account ID
- Client ID: The Client ID obtained in step 4
- Secret ID: The Secret ID obtained in step 4
- Ingest Window: When ingesting new media, VideoTMS will ignore all new videos created/updated in Brightcove that are older than X days. Typically, a safe value is 3.
- Tags (ingest only): VideoTMS will process into its system only videos in your Brightcove account that have a specific tag.
It is very important that you make sure that the tag specified here and the tag you use in Brightcove match. Any difference between the two will prevent the video from ingesting.
08
Tag Your Videos in Brightcove
Log back into your Brightcove Studio account. You can now edit any media and use the tag specified on the Project’s OVP configuration setup to ingest this media into your VideoTMS project for processing.
This tag is customizable so that you can use different tags to send media to different VideoTMS projects.
Dynamic Workflow:
Media Tagging on Brightcove can also be used to drive your workflow behavior. For example, by tagging your Brightcove videos “dotsub” and then “fr-FR” and “it-IT”, VideoTMS can programmatically determine that the video needs to be ingested, and that the user needs French and Italian translations.
This is an advanced feature. In order to avoid unexpected behaviors, please contact our production team before using it.
When your workflow reaches the Push step, your subtitles will be automatically submitted to the relevant video in your Brightcove Account, and will be visible in the “Text Tracks” area of your Media details, and therefore also available on your Brightcove Player, as well.
