Transcript for Molly Holzschlag interview at Webstock

Time Content
00:25 → 00:28

Nice to see you again Molly, and welcome to Web Stock 08

00:29 → 00:31

Is this your first trip to Wellington?

00:31 → 00:35

It’s my very first trip to New Zealand, yes, and it’s just fabulous. I’m enjoying it.

00:36 → 00:37

The conference’s been going well?

00:37 → 00:40

I’m really enjoying it, but one of the things that’s really special about it, I think,

00:40 → 00:48

is that it’s just got a great sense of passion and this unity of who we are and

00:48 → 00:54

what we are in the web and workers of the web. And I’m liking that passion a lot.

00:54 → 00:58

I’m also enjoying the fact that there are speakers here from all over the world.

00:58 → 01:02

Many of whom have been colleagues of mine for many years

01:02 → 01:05

and the fact that there are a lot of local people.

01:05 → 01:08

And so it’s bringing a lot of different People together

01:08 → 01:14

So it feels very much like a “web stock”, you know, like get together very diverse individuals

01:14 → 01:19

with one greater common goal, which is to make a very useful web and

01:19 → 01:23

continue innovation for the web.

01:23 → 01:31

In your presentation you draw distinction between standards and best practices - what did you mean by this?

01:31 → 01:39

What I mean by that, when we talk about web standards I am challenging the language of that.

01:39 → 01:47

I’m suggesting that what we are doing really aren’t true standards like a manufacturing standard
