Transcript for 'The Cool Guys'

When I was in high school, there was this group of about five guys... and they were the cool guys, and they played music... and they got a lot of chicks and everybody liked them. One time, one of them heard me play guitar and he thought I was good... and he wanted to start a band with a couple of the other cool guys and me. I was kind of nervous and excited, because I thought if I was in a band with the cool guys I'd get to be a cool guy, too. For the next year, I played music with the cool guys and ate lunch with the cool guys... and went cruising on boring Saturday nights with the cool guys... but I found out that they were actually kind of assholes... and they were always making fun of me and telling me I should lift weights... and go to a tanning salon. After a while, I gave up trying to be one of the cool guys... and stopped playing in their band and they formed a new band made up entirely of cool guys... and everybody thought their music was great and they became the kings of the school... and I tried not to let it get to me by telling myself that this was just high school... and after graduation, the real world wouldn't be as nice to the cool guys. I had kinda forgotten about the cool guys, when a few years later... I heard they were playing in bars and clubs around Boston... and I went to one of their shows and they had this huge following and everything. I went to say hello and we all started to hang out again... because, of course, we were all older and more mature... and they were nice to me at first, but pretty soon, they started giving me shit again... and after I found myself moving their amplifiers while they talked to girls one night... I decided I didn't like the cool guys very much and stopped hanging around with them. Anyway, they became the kings of Boston... just like they had been the kings of the high school... and everybody thought their music was great... and they got tons of good-looking girls, but now, it doesn't bother me... because it's totally beneath me and it's all in the past now. Really. I've made peace with it. Doesn't bother me. Swear to God.
