Culture is not your friend.
Civilization is 6 billion people trying to make themselves happy,
each of them climbing on the others' shoulders, kicking their teeth in.
It's not a pleasant situation.
However we can still take a step back, look at our planet and see
that we have the money, power, and medical knowledge,
the scientific knowhow, love, and community
necessary to produce a type of human paradise.
But we're driven by a minority, those
who aren't intelligent, noble or visionaries
and we don't fight against these dehumanizing values
which are recognized as control icons.
That's something I really don't want to talk about now
since that would require a conference in itself.
Culture isn't your friend.
Culture is for the convenience of others.
For other institutions, like churches, companies, tax collection.
It isn't your friend...
It insults you, prohibits you, it uses and abuses you.
None of us is treated well by culture.
And we don't glorify an individual's creative potential.
The rights of an individual, we understand present experiences which are the most important,
but culture is a perversion.
It creates fetishes and consumerism.
Infinite forms of unhappiness,
infinite forms of misunderstanding , in the form of
religions, stupid cults.
It invites people to degrade themselves
and dehumanize themselves by behaving like machines,
processors of significance...
like Madison Avenue's or Hollywood's intentions.
How can we fight against this?
It's a question which warrants an answer.
(audience) Where are we headed as organisms?
It's the same as the asking how we can fight against this.
I think that by creating art.
mankind wasn't placed on this planet to fight in the mud.
The God that placed us on this planet to fight in the mud
is a God of whom I wish to know nothing,
is a type of demonic gnostic God.
He's a cannibalistically demagogic God
who should be called out and rejected.
By revving up our artistic impulse
I believe we can really maximize humanism
and become much more necessary and incomprehensible for machines.
