My name is Dave Bonacchi and I'm a candidate |
| 00:03 → 00:06 |
for the New York State Assembly in the 135th District. |
| 00:06 → 00:09 |
I have had the honor and privilege for the past 30 years to serve my |
| 00:09 → 00:12 |
community, East Rochester. First, as a police officer |
| 00:12 → 00:15 |
then as their Mayor. |
| 00:15 → 00:18 |
I was Chairman of the Council of Governments |
| 00:18 → 00:21 |
which includes all 29 towns and villages, the Mayor of Rochester, and |
| 00:21 → 00:24 |
the County Executive. I was the Chairman of the Steering Committee |
| 00:24 → 00:27 |
and Past President of the Mayor's Association. |
| 00:27 → 00:30 |
I sat on the 9-1-1 board and have worked for law |
| 00:30 → 00:33 |
enforcement for over 30 years. I have gained |
| 00:33 → 00:36 |
the necessary experience during that time, which has |
| 00:36 → 00:39 |
positioned me well for this election. I am a proven leader |
| 00:39 → 00:42 |
that has accepted the responsibility each and every day. In this election, |
| 00:42 → 00:45 |
there is a distinct difference between my opponent and me. |
| 00:45 → 00:48 |
As Mayor, I worked very hard to bring in many new |
| 00:48 → 00:51 |
businesses which in turn created local jobs. I understand |
| 00:51 → 00:54 |
the hardships that businesses face. |
| 00:54 → 00:57 |
I support a cap on local property taxes because |
| 00:57 → 01:00 |
I believe property taxes are growing faster than |
| 01:00 → 01:03 |
homeowners' ability to pay and are placing a financial |
| 01:03 → 01:06 |
burden on middle class families and seniors. I want |
| 01:06 → 01:09 |
to see that state reduce state taxes, which are the highest in the nation |
| 01:09 → 01:12 |
which are crippling job growth in the Rochester area. |
| 01:12 → 01:15 |
We are now threatened by a status quo that is |
| 01:15 → 01:18 |
taxing us into oblivion. |
| 01:18 → 01:21 |
I want to make health care more accessible and |
| 01:21 → 01:24 |
affordable and invest in workforce retraining for the 21st Century |
| 01:24 → 01:27 |
high tech and manufacturing jobs. |
| 01:27 → 01:30 |
My opponent in the Democrat and Chronicle stated, |
| 01:30 → 01:33 |
and I quote, Albany is in shambles. It's time for a |
| 01:33 → 01:36 |
change. I'm running for State Assembly so families |
| 01:36 → 01:39 |
who plan their budgets, and seniors who live on fixed incomes, |
| 01:39 → 01:42 |
deserve relief and the peace of mind that their taxes will |
| 01:42 → 01:45 |
remain stable and more predictable. |
| 01:45 → 01:48 |
This election, I believe, you have an opportunity |
| 01:48 → 01:51 |
to elect a proven leader that will stand up and fight for what's important |
| 01:51 → 01:54 |
for the residents in the 135th Assembly District |
| 01:54 → 01:57 |
and for all the residents throughout this great state |
| 01:57 → 02:00 |
that we call New York. Thank You. |
