Transcript for Ron Paul Predicts Terrorist Attacks in 1997, 1999, and 2001

Time Content
00:00 → 00:05

RON PAUL: I do not see that we have the authority to all of a sudden impose our system of justice

00:05 → 00:08

across the entire world.

00:08 → 00:13

I do not think it is effective. I think it drums up anti-American hostility more than

00:13 → 00:14

it achieves justice.

00:14 → 00:18

RON PAUL: It has nothing to do with (our) national security.

00:18 → 00:24

As a matter of fact, our national security is more jeopardized by permitting this to

00:24 → 00:26

happen.

00:26 → 00:33

Because we are liable to start a war, we are liable to have our military men killed,

00:33 → 00:37

we're liable to have more attacks on us by terrorists.

00:37 → 00:44

RON PAUL: Our foolish policy in Iraq invites terrorist attacks against U.S. territory and

00:44 → 00:47

incites the Islamic fundamentalists against us.

00:47 → 00:52

RON PAUL: Our foreign policy of military interventionism has brought us death and destruction to many

00:52 → 00:55

foreign lands and loss of life for many Americans.

00:55 → 01:02

From Korea and Vietnam to Serbia, Iran, Iraq and now Afghanistan, we have ventured far

01:02 → 01:04

from our shores in search of wars to fight.

01:04 → 01:11

There is no evidence that this policy serves the interests of world peace. It certainly

01:11 → 01:17

increases the danger to all Americans as we become the number one target of terrorists.

01:17 → 01:23

RON PAUL: Our arrogant policy and attitude of superiority will continue to elicit a smoldering

01:23 → 01:29

hatred toward us and out of sheer frustration will motivate even more terrorist attacks

01:29 → 01:31

against us.

01:31 → 01:38

RON PAUL: I believe very sincerely, that the C.I.A. is correct when they teach, and talk

01:43 → 01:45

about "blowback".

01:45 → 01:52

When we went into Iran, in 1953 and installed the Shah, yes there was blow-back.

01:53 → 01:58

And the reaction to that was the taking of our hostages. And that persists, and if we

01:58 → 02:00

ignore that, we ignore that at our own risk.

02:00 → 02:06

If we think that we can do what we want around the world, and not incite hatred, then we

02:06 → 02:07

have a problem.

02:07 → 02:12

They don't come over here to attack us, because we're rich and we're free.

02:12 → 02:15

They come and they attack us because we're over there.

02:15 → 02:20

I mean what would we think if we -- if other foreign countries were doing that to us?
