Transcript for Candidate Free Air Time: 2008 David Garretson

Hi, I'm Dave Garretson for State Assembly.

Unlike the incumbent, I'm not a career politician.

I've spent my entire adult life running my businesses.

And that means as your Assemblyman, I won't

owe any favors to anybody except you.

And at my age, I don't have any ambitions for

a long career as a politician. So that means I will

be freed up to serve you.

I'm in this race because I've had it. I've had it with

paying for dysfunctional state government. I've had it

with the insider crowd and the backroom dealings.

And I'm frustrated that everything around here seems

to be getting worse. Well I've got news for everybody.

Time is up. We no longer have the luxury to

procrastinate any longer on our problems.

It's time to roll up our sleeves and

get to work, and by that I mean

Republicans and Democrats. Because

guess what? We're all in this together and we need

to start acting like it. After you elect me, I

promise to be accessible. One Saturday each month,

I'll host an open door Saturday right in the district

office, so if you want to have a word with your Assembly member, simply

show up and sit down with me.

In this election, the choice is clear: our incumbent

Assemblyman is a longtime political insider.

About as insider as you get as boss of the Republican

party. Now remember, it's the Republicans who

stuck us with this mess, but he remains silent, he

never says a word about any of it. Well me, I'm

down here on the ground with you. Please take a

careful look, a good look at both of us. The

choice is clear. I'm Dave Garretson,

and I want to represent you in the Assembly. I pledge

to put you first, to put people first, before

profits or politics. And I'll always work as

hard as you do, because I know we can do better.

I trust you to make the right choice.
