Hi, I'm Vint Cerf. I'm currently the chairman of ICANN.
I'm also the Chief Internet Evangelist for Google
And I'm one of the founders of the Internet
But I'm here today to tell you just a little bit about why you should be involved in ICANN
and why ICANN is important to you
Do you care about the Internet? Do you care that it works every day for you?
Do you care that your domain names resolve?
That the ISP has Internet address space for you to use on your servers?
Do you care about the policies that are used to decide when new top-level domains are created?
Do you care how we allocate IP address space?
If you have an opinion about that, you need to be part of ICANN.
We have many different opportunities for people to participate in policy making.
You could be a member of the Board of Directors and make some pretty hard decisions.
You could be helping ICANN operate as an organisation.
You could be a member of one of the supporting organisations.
The business community and the Generic Names Supporting Organisation
You could be part of the Address Supporting Organisation
because you're part of the ISP community that allocates and assigns address spaces
Your opinions could count
To help the Internet operate better,
operate on a larger scale,
... and on a global scale
But your opinions won't be heard if you don't participate.
