In this short tutorial, |
| 00:03 → 00:06 |
we'll get you set up with VideoPress for WordPress.com. |
| 00:06 → 00:09 |
So the first thing you're going to need to do is go to Upgrades |
| 00:09 → 00:12 |
and purchase the VideoPress upgrade if you don't have that already. |
| 00:12 → 00:15 |
You can use PayPal, or you can also use your credit card via PayPal to do this. |
| 00:15 → 00:18 |
Optionally, you can top up some extra space if you need to. |
| 00:18 → 00:21 |
So now, when I write a post, I click on this video icon, |
| 00:21 → 00:24 |
and I can bring in things from my media library, |
| 00:24 → 00:27 |
or I can upload a video directly, so I'm going to click on that, |
| 00:27 → 00:30 |
select a video, and that's going to upload for me. |
| 00:30 → 00:33 |
It's a good idea at this stage to add a title |
| 00:33 → 00:36 |
and any other meta information, |
| 00:36 → 00:39 |
because that's going to appear in the RSS feed of your video. |
| 00:39 → 00:42 |
I can also decide if I'd like people to not be able to share it |
| 00:42 → 00:45 |
by embedding, or the standard, which is that people can embed it. |
| 00:45 → 00:48 |
I can set a rating—now "G" is the standard, |
| 00:48 → 00:51 |
but obviously if you've got more mature content, |
| 00:51 → 00:54 |
you can change that here— |
| 00:54 → 00:57 |
and finally, I've got the shortcode for embedding, |
| 00:57 → 01:00 |
which I can actually copy here, should I want to email it to someone |
| 01:00 → 01:03 |
or something else like that. I can also access that same information |
| 01:03 → 01:06 |
by clicking on the "Embed" section of the video here |
| 01:06 → 01:09 |
where I've got the WordPress.com shortcode for other WordPress.com users, |
| 01:09 → 01:12 |
which I can copy right to my clipboard with that button. |
| 01:12 → 01:15 |
And also, the fuller embed code for people |
| 01:15 → 01:18 |
that are using self-hosted WordPress or other web pages, |
| 01:18 → 01:21 |
so the options are open there. |
| 01:21 → 01:24 |
You'll want to use this other one for anything other than a WordPress.com blog |
| 01:24 → 01:27 |
but it also means that you can share the video pretty much anywhere on the web. |
| 01:27 → 01:30 |
Once I'm happy with all that, |
| 01:30 → 01:33 |
I just need to click on "Insert Into Post" |
| 01:33 → 01:36 |
and I'm now going to see a small piece of shortcode |
| 01:36 → 01:39 |
in my post. It doesn't matter if it's the HTML or visual editor; |
| 01:39 → 01:42 |
the result that I'll get when I publish looks like this, |
| 01:42 → 01:45 |
with a full "HD On" button people can turn on |
| 01:45 → 01:48 |
to enter full HD mode, |
| 01:48 → 01:51 |
full-screen mode, so they can really take advantage |
| 01:51 → 01:54 |
of that high-definition video; and of course, the different embed options. |
| 01:54 → 01:57 |
Good to go! |
