In 1994, my third son was born with health problems. All of them, all 4, have been operated on.
I didn't have any money, I lived in a broken down wood house, it was no good.
And a friend told me, 'why don't you buy a freezer and start selling ice or something?'
So I started making little cakes by hand and making ice cream with cake in it because milk was scarce.
Then my husband, he came back from the capital to the house, with no money.
They had cancelled his job, but he bought a cow.
And from this cow, well, I have a cookbook where they show how to make ice cream and other things.
I started making my little bits of ice cream, cake ice cream.
The ingredients for making the cake went up
and the cake ice cream didn't make as much money.
So then I had to ask my husband to give me the milk from the first cow that he bought.
I started making ice cream with milk. And well, with my ice cream...
I have made this house with ice cream, from what these cows left for me.
So look how I do it, here I put in the milk - pure like it comes from the cow, without adding any water at all -
and I boil it with corn starch.
Then I set it aside while I prepare the dry corn starch. After the milk boils,
while it's cooking, I add the dry corn starch and let it boil for 4 minutes.
Then I add a measure of sugar and there it is, ready.
