Two minutes...two proposals from this candidate
to shape New York's future.
Number One: Our future is in
green energy research and production.
I propose to create America's
Center for Energy in the region between
Rochester, Syracuse, and Ithaca to launch
a Kennedy-style race to the solutions for green energy.
Our region is appropriate because of it's natural
resources. Our region
also has underutilized manufacturing capacity
that can be utilized to produce tomorrow's
green energy products.
And the people of our region are proven leaders of innovation -
ready to become net energy exporters
to the world.
Number Two: Our future includes universal health insurance
coverage. I propose to enact Universal
New York, a state administered
health insurance system with premiums
based upon a sliding scale. Premiums
will be affordable when we eliminate the profit margins of
private insurance companies. Premiums will
go down even further when we eliminate the
redundancy of 24 separate health insurance
plans currently offered by New York State.
Premiums could be pushed even lower
by focusing upon preventative care
and treatment. Two minutes...
two proposals. I am Paloma Capanna,
Democratic candidate for the New York State
Senate in the 54th District. Our
campaign is about the policies to shape New York's
