Transcript for SLOODLE 0.4 PRESENTER

Time Content
00:07 → 00:10

Hello everyone and welcome to SLOODLE newsroom.

00:10 → 00:14

I'm Paul Preibisch in real life and Fire Centaur in Second Life.

00:14 → 00:27

I want to show you a new tool for distance educators using Open Sim or Second Life.

00:27 → 00:31

Let me outline what problems this tool will solve.

00:31 → 00:41

Educators in Open Sim or Second Life need a tool for reliably creating and giving mixed-media presentations.

00:44 → 00:51

This usually involves uploading a separate image for each slide. This is costly and difficult.

00:51 → 00:57

Most presentation tools in Second Life only display flat, static images.

00:57 → 01:03

But you may want to show video content.

01:03 → 01:08

You might also want to display a webpage for your students.

01:11 → 01:15

You will also want your presentation to be accessible even when Second Life is off-line.

01:15 → 01:23

These are important considerations when you bring your class into the virtual world.

01:24 → 01:33

The SLOODLE project has combined these needs into one free and open source package.

01:33 → 01:36

This is called the "SLOODLE Presenter."

01:36 → 01:45

You can compose your presentation for Second Life entirely in Moodle.

01:45 → 01:49

You can add images, videos, and webpages.

01:49 → 01:54

Once you have completed your presentation on the Moodle website

01:54 → 01:59

you need to rez a Presenter in Second Life or Open Sim.

01:59 → 02:02

Configure it to connect to your Moodle website.

02:02 → 02:07

Deed it the parcel that the Presenter is located on.

02:07 → 02:10

A wonderful mix-media presenter will await you.

02:11 → 02:15

If you would like to know the technical details of setting up this Presenter,

02:15 → 02:18

please visit http://www.sloodle.org

02:18 → 02:23

Visit our wiki or join us in Second Life for our weekly SLOODLE 101 classes.

02:23 → 02:25

Goodbye for now.

02:25 → 02:32

{Applause}

02:32 → 02:56
