Hello. My name is Mike Nozzolio |
| 00:03 → 00:06 |
and I'm seeking your support for my reelection |
| 00:06 → 00:09 |
to the New York State Senate. Many years ago, |
| 00:09 → 00:12 |
my father immigrated to America from Italy |
| 00:12 → 00:15 |
and sought to build a better life in Seneca Falls, New York. |
| 00:15 → 00:18 |
To support their family, both mom and dad worked long hours |
| 00:18 → 00:21 |
in local factories. They instilled in me the lifelong |
| 00:21 → 00:24 |
values of hard work and commitment |
| 00:24 → 00:27 |
to family and community. As a lifelong resident |
| 00:27 → 00:30 |
of the Finger Lakes region, my work in the State Senate |
| 00:30 → 00:33 |
is not simply public service. It's working every day |
| 00:33 → 00:36 |
to help change and improve the lives of the people I |
| 00:36 → 00:39 |
serve. Getting positive results for my constituents |
| 00:39 → 00:42 |
has always been, and continues to be, my highest |
| 00:42 → 00:45 |
priority. As New Yorkers, we face difficult challenges |
| 00:45 → 00:48 |
if we are to improve our economy and |
| 00:48 → 00:51 |
create new jobs. Making New York economically |
| 00:51 → 00:54 |
competitive again means we have to lower taxes |
| 00:54 → 00:57 |
and control state spending. |
| 00:57 → 01:00 |
Property taxes are simply too high, driving |
| 01:00 → 01:03 |
senior citizens from their homes and forcing young |
| 01:03 → 01:06 |
people to leave New York. As your State Senator |
| 01:06 → 01:09 |
I was proud to work with Governor Paterson |
| 01:09 → 01:12 |
to vote to enact a property tax cap. I will continue |
| 01:12 → 01:15 |
to aggressively work for this reform until the |
| 01:15 → 01:18 |
property tax cap is enacted into law. The national |
| 01:18 → 01:21 |
economy is struggling and that |
| 01:21 → 01:24 |
means that New York State must control its spending. |
| 01:24 → 01:27 |
When times are tough, every family makes tough |
| 01:27 → 01:30 |
decisions on how to make ends meet. |
| 01:30 → 01:33 |
Now, New York State government must do the same. |
| 01:33 → 01:36 |
We must further cut state government spending |
| 01:36 → 01:39 |
That's why I'm fighting to enact a constitutional spending cap |
| 01:39 → 01:42 |
that will limit all state spending to the rate |
| 01:42 → 01:45 |
of inflation. Reducing taxes and controlling government |
| 01:45 → 01:48 |
spending is a formula that will create new jobs |
| 01:48 → 01:51 |
for New Yorkers. With your support, |
| 01:51 → 01:54 |
I will continue to work in the State Senate towards those goals. |
| 01:54 → 01:57 |
My name is Mike Nozzolio, and I'm truly grateful |
| 01:57 → 02:00 |
for the honor to serve you in the New York State Senate. |
