Transcript for Candidate Free Air Time: 2008 Dale Sweetland

Time Content
00:00 → 00:03

Hi I'm Dale Sweetland and I'm running for Congress

00:03 → 00:06

in the 25th Congressional District, which includes

00:06 → 00:09

the Towns of Irondequoit, Webster, and the northern part of Penfield.

00:09 → 00:12

I want to be your Congressman because I'm tired of what goes on

00:12 → 00:15

and what doesn't go on in Washington.

00:15 → 00:18

Democrats and Republicans alike spend so much time arguing with

00:18 → 00:21

each other that solutions to real problems in America are

00:21 → 00:24

never reached. For example, America is in the middle

00:24 → 00:27

of a major energy crisis, yet the Democratic

00:27 → 00:30

led Congress refused to act for months and the

00:30 → 00:33

measure they finally did pass is so full of clauses

00:33 → 00:36

and exceptions that it has no real chance of actually making

00:36 → 00:39

a difference at the gas pump or on your home heating

00:39 → 00:42

bill. I have a four point plan to deal with the

00:42 → 00:45

current energy crisis that includes

00:45 → 00:48

drilling for our own resources, promoting conservation,

00:48 → 00:51

developing alternative energy sources,

00:51 → 00:54

and cutting taxes on energy. I know what it's

00:54 → 00:57

like to struggle to pay bills, especially your property tax bill.

00:57 → 01:00

That's why I have a plan to cut your property taxes in

01:00 → 01:03

half. As your Congressman, I would propose legislation

01:03 → 01:06

to force New York State to pick up the entire cost

01:06 → 01:09

of Medicaid, saving taxpayers and Monroe County

01:09 → 01:12

162-million dollars a year.

01:14 → 01:17

As the Chairman of the Onondaga County Legislature, I led the

01:17 → 01:20

effort to fight Medicaid fraud in my county, an initiative

01:20 → 01:23

that resulted in two million dollars

01:23 → 01:26

savings to the county this year alone.

01:26 → 01:29

Over regulation is choking small businesses

01:29 → 01:32

throughout the country. To encourage business and job

01:32 → 01:35

growth would preserve tax cuts, lower government

01:35 → 01:38

spending, and reduct bureaucratic barriers.

01:38 → 01:41

As your Congressman, I will stand for you in Washington.

01:41 → 01:44

I'm not going to Washington to mingle

01:44 → 01:47

with the political establishment. I'll represent

01:47 → 01:50

your issues and your concerns,

01:50 → 01:53

working across the aisle to get the job done.

01:53 → 01:56

I'm Dale Sweetland, Republican candidate for Congress and I look forward to

01:56 → 01:59

representing you in Washington.
