[A time bomb is ticking in the Sahel]
[♪ Music ♪] [Continued droughts, failed harvests and increasing food prices]
[have made survival a challenge for local populations.]
[Some 15 million people are facing a nutrition crisis.]
[One million young children are at risk of starvation.]
[The Sahel is an arid region just below the Sahara Desert.]
[Eight countries are affected: Burkino Faso, Cameroon,]
[Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria and Senegal.]
[Communities in the Sahel have a great capacity for resilience,]
[but there is a limit, and it has been reached.]
[More than one million children are already suffering from malnutrition.]
[They are at high risk of stunted growth, brain damage, and permanent disability.]
[They are more vulnerable than others to polio, measles,]
[meningitis, cholera & other diseases.]
[If we don't help them, these one million children could die within a few months.]
[We know what to do to save these children, but we must act now.]
