Transcript for Candidate Free Air Time: 2008 Bill Reilich--Incumbent

Time Content
00:00 → 00:02

I'm Bill Reilich, your New York State Assemblyman.

00:02 → 00:06

I'm proud to represent the residents of the 134th Assembly district.

00:06 → 00:09

The district includes the towns of Greece, Ogden, and Sweden.

00:09 → 00:11

And I'm seeking your vote for re-election this November.

00:11 → 00:15

I went to Albany with an agenda for change, not to fit in with the status quo.

00:15 → 00:21

As your representative, I have carried the agenda on behalf of the families and businesses I represent.

00:21 → 00:26

Last session, I supported middle-class property tax rebate checks for our families and our seniors,

00:26 → 00:30

and I voted to secure millions of dollars in state aid for our local schools

00:30 → 00:33

to assist them in providing a sound education for our children.

00:33 → 00:36

I also supported legislation which expanded child health plus insurance

00:36 → 00:43

to include and additional 400,000 children throughout our state, so they would have access to quality healthcare.

00:43 → 00:47

These are all measures that I know will help support the residents I represent

00:47 → 00:51

each and every day. My top priority continues to be helping to ease

00:51 → 00:54

the tremendous tax burdens placed on all of us.

00:54 → 00:59

As a father of 5, I know how difficult it is to maintain a home and provide for my family.

00:59 → 01:01

While we have seen some movement in the right direction,

01:01 → 01:05

there is still much to be done. I will never stop my fight to help relieve

01:05 → 01:10

the burden of our sky-rocketing property taxes. We must seek relief

01:10 → 01:13

so our seniors can remain in their homes and our young children

01:13 → 01:18

Our children, our grand-children can realize the American dream of home-ownership.

01:18 → 01:26

I'm doing my part. I've voted over 260 times against any new tax increases that came before me in the assembly.

01:26 → 01:30

Lower our taxes will also help to make New York more business friendly,

01:30 → 01:34

so we can attract new jobs to Monroe County and retain the good jobs we already have.

01:34 → 01:36

We have seen some progress in Albany.

01:36 → 01:40

I was proud to support legislation which actually cut some of our spending in New York.

01:40 → 01:44

We are far from being fiscally sound. This was a positive first step

01:44 → 01:48

in the right direction and one I will continue to pursue when I return to Albany.

01:48 → 01:51

I'm Assemblyman Bill Reilich and I'm asking for your vote on election day

01:51 → 01:57

so we can continue helping to change New York for the better.
