Transcript for Translating WordPress.tv

Thanks to our partnership with dotSUB, you'll notice that an increasing amount of the video on WordPress.tv now has subtitles, which can be selected directly from the VideoPress player. If there's more than one language available, you can select it from this box here. But what if your language is missing? Well, if you have a few spare minutes, and more than one language under your belt, here's how you can help out your fellow WordPress users. If you head over to dotsub.com, you'll be able to contribute a line, a few lines, or even an entire translation of the original transcription. It's easier and quicker than it sounds. Grab yourself a dotSUB account, and when you're signed up, head to "Collections". The collection you're looking for is "WordPress.tv". Now, you can see a list of all the tutorials currently transcribed. To get started in translating, click through to a video. If I play, I can see that the subs have already been added. Then, it's just a matter of selecting the language I'd like to translate into from over here. As you can see, there are plenty to choose from. Once that's done, if the translation hasn't been started already, I should have a blank slate available to me. Up at the top, I've got the title, and clicking here, I can add my translation of the line above, before clicking on the pencil to commit the translation, or hitting Enter. I can go back and make an edit, too, if I notice a mistake. Then, as you can see, there are a number of lines beneath, which I just need to add a translation for, line by line. I can add just one line, and let someone else pick up where I left off, or work through the whole bunch, depending on how much time I have to contribute. Pressing Enter saves the translation, and pressing ESC will cancel a translation I've added. And that's it. We're doing our best to keep up-to-date with all the new videos on WordPress.tv being transcribed, so stay tuned and should see fresh content for translation as time passes. The results, once completed for a video, are approved and make their way to the videos embedded in WordPress.tv and also shared around the web, making it easier for people to understand and use the content, thanks to you.
