Transcript for Real Talk (Irene Wanke)
Water is the basis for life. Humanity has always been centered around the quest for this elusive and essential fluid. Water is also a necessity for life to exist and is undoubtedly a human basic right. When dealing with this issue of water as a human right there are four main considerations, otherwise known as the four P's. The first is principle. The morality surrounding water which has been given by God to all people is one of sharing and equality. This view of cooperation leads us to the second P, people. People are important because they are what is affected and everyone needs to have water to survive. This issue of water as a human right centres around people and their needs must not be forgotten. The third P is product and this symbolizes the care that we take to ensure that our water is clean and safe for all to access and to protect it for future generations. Finally we have profit. We live in a capitalist society and profit is what drives our system. We must not neglect profit as it is one of the most effective ways to move and manage our resources. These four P's must be considered and weighed in this order. With principles and people first, secondly product and finally profit. With these steadfast priorities water will remain a bountiful resource, accessible to everyone as a basic human right.
