I am 35 kilometers (21.7 miles) away from the capital, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
next to the Reconquista stream , a contaminated water flow.
The question is .. Until when?
Maybe the fact that 28% of the water reserves in the world are
In Latin America, makes the governments not to take seriously
the need to take care of this non renewable natural resource.
I wish I could say that the access to clean and pure water is a basic human right
but no... because still today, in the 21st century
there are people who die dehydrated,
there are people who die of sickness related to drinking water
that is contaminated or because they live near streams like this one.
The world population continues to grow and also does the production
but not the water reserves.
According to the document "We the People" elaborated by the World Bank
if this situation continues by the year 2025, two of three people
will suffer due to the lack of water.
It is not about restricting the use of water
but about taking measures globally so the people have conscience
of the necessity of taking care of this resource, over which our life depends.
This is a fact. Everybody needs water to live...
.. and there are no frontiers or political divides that can change this.
The solution is in our hands.
