Well, that’s an interesting question.

You know, we tried to cure infectious diseases and it came back and bit us.

We’ve got drug-resistant hepatitis strains, we’ve got things like AIDS,

and so it could be that infectious diseases are a critical part of the evolutionary process,

and you don’t want to actually get rid of them. You want to just find a way to live with them.

And I think cancer is probably similar. I think cancer can become chronic –

absolutely it can become chronic, meaning that you just live with it.

Whether you cure it or not – I’m not sure that’s the smartest approach.

That’s the struggle, but i’s a philosophical approach.

It may be intrinsically incurable, but certainly it can be something you live with.
