Exercise, because a lot of what I do is look at this from a physiological perspective,
Exercise does not make you stronger. Exercise does not make you faster.
Most people think it does, so they're in the gym six, seven days a week.
Busting their butts, thinking that that's making them stronger.
It doesn't make you faster nor stronger. It makes you weaker, makes you more tired.
If exercise made you stronger and faster, you would be faster at the end of the marathon than you were at the beginning.
Because you are exercising for five hours, so at the end of the five hours I've exercised for five hours,
I should be stronger now, because I've been exercising.
No, exercise makes you tired!
Rest and recovery makes you stronger.
Not the exercise. The exercise breaks you down, the recovery builds you up.
If you don't allow yourself to recover, if you continually stress yourself...
Seven days a week in gym, seven days a week running, you will break down.
Food is the same way, diet is the same way.
If you eat stressful foods, anything that has been processed or refined,
anything that has been cooked or is an animal product, especially cooked animal product,
is a stressful food. The body cannot effectively deal with it.
It has to leach minerals, leach calcium, create enzymes that weren't initially there,
to break this food down. And it takes a long time.
It's very stressful on a body to deal with these types of foods.
Yes, you can, the body can survive on these foods, but I don't want to survive, I want to thrive!
It's about thriving, not survive.
That's what this journey is about. I want a population of people that thrive.
I want to see America to be the greatest country on Earth again.
Because I don't think it is anymore.
I think we are living in a ghost of a greatest country there ever was.
We need to recreate that by thriving.
We have the potential to get that back, or throw it away.
So, stressful foods, seven days a week, no recovery.
The body doesn't have time to heal itself.
Because that cheeseburger you ate at McDonald's is gonna take three days to break down.
So now your body is stressed for three days trying to deal with that cheeseburger.
It doesn't have time to heal, doesn't have the energy to heal, it doesn't have resources to heal itself.
But when you on a raw diet, hopefully organic,
if you can't afford organic, that's OK, you still eat whole plant foods.
It's better than not, but if you can afford organic plant foods in your diet,
they don't stress the body. They do their job. That's all they do.
They're not magic, they just do their job.
And because they do their job and then they get the other way,
"OK, we're done, see you later, see you tomorrow"
the body has free time on it's hands.
"Wow, I got a free time, I got a free energy, what am I gonna do?"
How about to heal something? How about I grow some new skin?
How about I fix something?
And that's what the raw diet is all about.
It's about the healing process. It's about allowing your body to heal.
